Our Buildings

St Peter’s Church is situated between Church Road North and Church Road South, off the High Street. The present church dates from the 14th century although it is likely there was an earlier church on the same site. The inside of the church is flexible and the seating can be arranged in a number of different lay outs.  The church seats approx 300.  There is also a fine set of bells. The church winning Millennium Garden.  St Peter’s is open each day from 9am until dusk.  A more detailed history of the church is available here.  Map to find St Peter’s.
St Nicholas’ Church is situated on the Nore Road on the edge of a small wooded area.  It was built as the chapel for the former Nautical School.  The building is one hundred years old.  Inside the church there are fixed pews with a large Narthex or welcome area at the back of the church.  The church seats approx 180.  At the moment St Nicholas’ is not open during the day but if you wish to visit the church please contact the Church Office. A more detailed history of the church is available here.  Map to find St Nicholas’.
St Peter’s and St Nicholas’ work closely together, as sister churches, serving the whole of the town of Portishead.  We also enjoy a good working relationship with the other Christian denominations in the town.
