A Lenten Challenge! Nearly 100 billion pieces of plastic waste are thrown away by UK households each year, and just 12% is recycled in the UK. It really is time the government got serious about tackling the plastic crisis. Let’s make our love for God’s world have more impact by taking part in the Big Plastic Count. The 11-17th March is The Big Plastic Count and thousands of people across the country will be committing to count their plastic waste and record the results. Almost a quarter of a million people took part in 2022 and the results revealed that almost 2 billion pieces of plastic packaging are being thrown away in the UK each week. This year we can help build more evidence to convince supermarket bosses and ministers to lead the way at the global talks that could finally phase out plastic pollution. It’s very easy to take part, follow this link: https://thebigplasticcount.com/ For more info speak to Verity ED, Nick McDuff or Lindsay.

The usual ways in which we give financially to the Church may not currently be open to us, but there are alternatives you might like to explore if you are able. One change you might wish to consider is to swap giving by cash or through the envelope system for setting up a Standing Order through your bank. You can do this by completing a Bankers Order form (available here ) and sending it to your bank. If you wish the parish to claim Gift Aid on your donations please ask your bank to ensure your name will be identifiable. Thank you. The Diocese has also put together a sheet on the subject which you can read here . Everything we do, from the Refresh and Tots groups to our Sunday Services, from opening our church daily to supporting our Mission Partners and community, this is only possible with your generosity – thank you!

We continue to explore how we can support and care for one another and the wider community during this very difficult time. If you need help or can offer help, please contact your clergy. We are family! Please DO phone each other, and everyone else in your address book – to encourage and share. Keep in constant contact with God – no phone line required!
