Welcome to Portishead Church of England

Welcome to Portishead Church of England serving the whole of the town of Portishead. We have two churches: St Peter’s situated between Church Road North and Church Road South off the High Street and St Nicholas’ situated along the coast on Nore Road.  We work in close partnership with our two church primary schools, St Peter’s and Trinity, and in association with the St Barnabas Centre, where our church office is based.

We strive to be a Christ-shaped community responding to the liberating love of God, celebrating the joys of life, struggling together with the pains and challenges of life and acknowledging the certainties, doubts and questions faith can bring. In addition to our regular pattern of Sunday worship we have a wide range of activities for all ages as well as seeking to be actively involved in the life of our town.  
 
Our clergy are available to all those living in the town and are happy to conduct Baptisms, Weddings and Funerals for all, regardless of their existing link with our churches.  The clergy also welcome being informed of those in particular need who may welcome a visit or other support. 
 
We hope you will enjoy exploring this site and discovering more about the life of Portishead Church of England and all that it has to offer.

Saturday 29th September 2.00pm
Beetle Drive 

Please come and join us for a beetle drive at St Peter's Church at 2.00pm on Saturday 29th September. A chance to meet people, have some fun, eat cake and drink tea. All welcome from young to old. Instuctions given for novices.

Men's Breakfast - Saturday 6th October 8.30am
Women's Breakfast - Saturday 13th October 8.30am 

Our very own Mike Burt is our speaker at the next breakfasts at the Lido Café, when he will tell us about Posset, Places Old & New. Find out how well you know Portishead. Tickets cost £8 from your usual contacts, or please contact the Parish Office.

Parish Weekend Away at Lee Abbey
21st to 23rd June 2019

We are returning to Lee Abbey for our Parish Weekend Away in 2019. Booking has now opened, rooms will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis. Early booking advised! More information is available on the booking form.

Please complete a booking form and return to the Parish Office.


The Lighthouse Café at St Nicholas's Church

The Lighthouse café is open every Thursday:

  • delicious home-made cakes,
  • a place to meet friends,
  • a community hub and information point,
  • a space and time you can help shape and, if you need it a listening ear.
