Welcome to Portishead Church of England

Welcome to Portishead Church of England serving the whole of the town of Portishead. We have two churches: St Peter’s situated between Church Road North and Church Road South off the High Street and St Nicholas’ situated along the coast on Nore Road.  We work in close partnership with our two church primary schools, St Peter’s and Trinity, and in association with the St Barnabas Centre, where our church office is based.

We strive to be a Christ-shaped community responding to the liberating love of God, celebrating the joys of life, struggling together with the pains and challenges of life and acknowledging the certainties, doubts and questions faith can bring. In addition to our regular pattern of Sunday worship we have a wide range of activities for all ages as well as seeking to be actively involved in the life of our town.
Our clergy are available to all those living in the town and are happy to conduct Baptisms, Weddings and Funerals for all, regardless of their existing link with our churches.  The clergy also welcome being informed of those in particular need who may welcome a visit or other support.
We hope you will enjoy exploring this site and discovering more about the life of Portishead Church of England and all that it has to offer.

Ethics of Business: Is integrity in business possible?

Wednesday 24th May, 7:30pm at St Peter's Church

At the next Ethics Forum our speaker will be Joy Saunders. Joy has written and presented in various fora on the importance of corporate integrity as well as measuring impact in the anti-corruption field and sat as the civil society representative for the OECD Anti-Corruption Task Team.

She will be speaking on ethics and integrity in business – a very topical issue today. Free tickets can be obtained from the Church Office, either Church after services, or your usual contacts.

This year over the Pentecost Weekend (3rd and 4th June) the churches in Portishead are once again aiming to get together to serve our community. There are various activities available (please see the posters here). Do just turn up to get involved in one of them. At 4.00pm on Sunday 4th we will gather with other Christians in the town for an act of all-age worship at the Somerset Hall. Do put that in your diaries and come along. Please note there will be no Evensong on 4th June.
