Embrace the Future Gift Day – The Result

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever.(Psalm 136.1)

We would like to thank everyone for their incredible generosity on our Gift Day. The amazing sum of £225,000 has been given, or has been pledged. We would also like to thank all those who attended the 24 hour Prayer Vigil and Gift Day, this wonderful result is evidence of the power of those prayers.  None of this could have happened without those who planned the Vigil, and provided hospitality for visitors, thanks also to them.

This is a tremendous start towards our target of raising £725,000 to repair and develop our Churches. We can now start to move forward and embrace the future with confidence. For more information about Embrace the Future, see Buildings Development Programme

Welcome to Portishead Church of England serving the whole of the town of Portishead. We have two churches: St Peter’s situated between Church Road North and Church Road South off the High Street and St Nicholas’ situated along the coast on Nore Road.  We work in close partnership with our two church primary schools, St Peter’s and Trinity, and in association with the St Barnabas Centre, where our church office is based.

We strive to be a Christ-shaped community responding to the liberating love of God, celebrating the joys of life, struggling together with the pains and challenges of life and acknowledging the certainties, doubts and questions faith can bring. In addition to our regular pattern of Sunday worship we have a wide range of activities for all ages as well as seeking to be actively involved in the life of our town.

Our clergy are available to all those living in the town and are happy to conduct Baptisms, Weddings and Funerals for all, regardless of their existing link with our churches.  The clergy also welcome being informed of those in particular need who may welcome a visit or other support.

We hope you will enjoy exploring this site and discovering more about the life of Portishead Church of England and all that it has to offer.
